Your privacy
Connected Homeless, registered charity 1172896. Last updated 21 August 2026.
This is about the Connected Homeless member app: the one you sign into with the five-character member number the charity gave you. It is written for you, not for lawyers, and it says what actually happens.
The short version
- Your conversations with your helper are private. Charity staff do not read them.
- There is one exception, and it is written below in full.
- You can see everything the helper remembers about you, and delete any of it.
- You can make it forget everything, at any time, in two taps.
- We do not sell anything about you, and there is no advertising in this app.
What the app holds
- Your member record. The name, phone number and photo the charity holds for you, so staff know who they are helping.
- What you tell your helper. Your messages, its replies, and short notes it keeps about your situation so it does not ask you the same things every week.
- Anything you hand over. Photographs of letters, documents, and links you paste in.
- Your plans and the letters and forms the helper writes for you.
- Your points balance and where you have spent it, so shops can be paid and you can check your own history.
The one thing that is not private
If you say something that suggests you are in danger, from yourself or from somebody else, the app raises a flag with the charity so a person can check you are alright. The flag records what triggered it. This is the only way anything you say in a conversation reaches staff, it is the same rule any refuge or support service works to, and the app tells you so the first time you use it rather than burying it here.
Who else sees any of it
Nobody is sold anything, and nothing is shared for advertising. Three companies handle parts of this app on the charity's behalf and are not allowed to use what passes through them for their own purposes:
- Anthropic, whose model is the helper you talk to.
- OpenAI, which turns your voice into words during a call and the helper's words back into a voice.
- Supabase and Vercel, which store the data and run the service.
If a shop takes a payment from your points, the shop is told the amount and that it was paid. It is not told anything about your situation.
Making it forget
In the app, open your helper, then Yours, then What you remember about me. Every note is listed and each one can be deleted on its own. At the bottom is Forget everything, which removes every conversation, every note, every plan, every document and every file you handed over, including the stored copies of your photographs. It cannot be undone and it does not ask the charity first.
Your name, your photo and your points balance stay, because they are your account rather than something the helper knows about you. To close the account itself, ask the charity.
Children
This app is for adults the charity is working with. It is not designed for or aimed at children.
Where the data lives, and for how long
Data is held on servers in the European Union. Conversations and notes are kept until you delete them or the charity closes your account. Safeguarding flags are kept for as long as the charity is required to keep a record of a concern.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. The quickest route for the helper's memory is the button in the app. For anything else, or to complain, contact the charity below. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
